Mechanical Design Engineer

About A.U.G. Signals Ltd. (AUG): AUG was established in 1986 and is a research oriented company focused on the development of advanced Signal Image and Data Processing (SIDP) algorithms. The company is at the forefront of research and development in several areas including: image registration, data mining, detection and recognition, multi-sensor fusion and intelligent situation assessment. The company provides services in data collection, processing, analysis and delivery, working with data from satellites, airborne, and ground sensors. These technologies are applied to a variety of fields, including: military, homeland security, mineral and hydrocarbon exploration, environmental monitoring, hyperspectral hydrocarbon detection and data mining for maritime surveillance.

About the position: The Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved in leading edge research and development of real-time, multi-parameter water quality monitoring systems. Key responsibilities of this position include industrial product design, electro-mechanical construction, working with suppliers and manufacturers for customized components, field deployment of sensors, supporting AUG’s technical team in implementation and testing of equipment. Effective communication skills are required as it may be necessary to author technical reports and present the technology to clients. Some travel to remote sites for sensor installation will be involved.

Requirements:

• University or college degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field
• Working experience with SolidWorks for modelling and/or design of small-scale components
• Working experience using a variety of common construction tools (including table saw, drill press, taps and dies, etc.) and materials (plastics, aluminum, stainless, etc.).
• Experience with wiring, circuit design, and control systems
• Solid understanding of real-time analytical sensors, particularly for water, is an asset
• Proven technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Ability and willingness to travel is a must
